Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I need a root canal treatment?

Signs you may need a root canal include severe toothache, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold, and swelling or tenderness in the nearby gums. We recommend scheduling an examination for an accurate diagnosis.

What does a new patient examination include and how much does it cost?

A new patient examination involves a comprehensive oral health check, priced at £75. Payment is taken when booking.

Can tooth extractions be avoided?

We always aim to preserve natural teeth. However, extractions may be necessary if a tooth is too damaged or decayed. We’ll explore all options and recommend the best course of action for your health.

How often should I visit for a dental check-up?

We recommend a dental check-up at least every six months. However, your dentist may advise more frequent visits depending on your oral health needs.

What are the benefits of composite bonding?

Composite bonding is a quick and effective treatment to repair chips, cracks, discoloration, or to close small gaps between teeth, enhancing the appearance of your smile with minimal tooth enamel removal.

What is the difference between inlays, onlays, and dental crowns?

Inlays and onlays are used to repair decay or damage lying within the tooth’s cusps, while dental crowns cover the entire visible portion of a tooth, restoring its shape, size, strength, and appearance.

How much do dental X-rays cost?

Dental X-rays are priced at £12, but are included for patients subscribed to our dental plan.

Are children welcome at the practice?

Absolutely! We offer dental care for children of all ages, from routine check-ups to specific treatments. Children aged 0-7 years with a registered parent are seen free of charge.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit will include a detailed examination of your oral health, discussion of your dental history and any concerns, and creation of a personalised treatment plan.

How does the dental plan work?

Our dental plan is designed to spread the cost of treatments over the year, offering a convenient way to pay for your dental care. It includes regular check-ups, X-rays, and discounts on many treatments.

What options are available for replacing missing teeth?

We offer several options, including dentures, bridges, and dental implants. The best solution for you depends on various factors, including the number of teeth missing and your overall oral health.

Do you offer emergency dental services?

Yes, we provide emergency appointments for both registered and un-registered patients. Immediate attention is given to alleviate pain and address the emergency.

How long does teeth whitening last?

The effects of teeth whitening can last from a few months to three years, varying from person to person. Avoiding staining drinks like coffee and tobacco can prolong the results.

What is involved in a dental hygiene visit?

A dental hygiene visit includes professional cleaning to remove plaque and tartar, polishing of your teeth, and advice on maintaining optimal oral hygiene at home.

Can I switch to your dental practice if I'm currently registered elsewhere?

Certainly! We’re always welcoming new patients. Simply contact us to arrange your first appointment, and we’ll take care of the rest, including transferring your dental records if necessary.
